I wanted something super simple and easy to make with my son today after dinner. So we decided on foam dough. It was easy to make and immensely fun to play with. We had a slight incident with the food coloring because my adorable 5-year-old decided that he would put a small piece of the dough in his hand and then drop WAY too much food coloring into his open hand. (see picture below! lol.)
So let’s get on to how to make foam dough!
You will need:
- 1 1/2 cup of cornstarch
- 3 cups of shaving cream (unscented)
- Food coloring of your choice
- Measuring cups
- Container to mix/store in
Add 1 1/2 cups of cornstarch to your container.
Measure 3 cups of shaving cream and add it to your cornstarch.
This is the fun and sticky part, combine the shaving cream until thoroughly mixed.
You should be able to form it into a ball and it shouldn’t be too sticky when you can mold it in your hands without it sticking to your hands then it is done. (If it is too sticky, add cornstarch 1 tbsp at a time.)
Now mix in your food coloring (maybe use a utensil for this part unless you like colorful hands.)
All done! You are ready to play with it! It is so silky and smooth, definitely a must try.
We had so much fun making foam dough and playing with it afterward. Just make sure you store it in a sealable container. I hope you enjoy your foam dough!
